How do I handle worries that my friends might think that my use of birth control is a way to have more sex?
If your friends are thinking that, educate them. Tell them the reasons why you’re on it and explain its benefits for your overall health. If you’re using it for protection, what’s the shame in that? You’re taking care of yourself and staying safe.
Being on birth control has nothing to do with your personality or values. It shows you are taking responsibility. You could be on it for a number of reasons other than preventing pregnancy, and your friends don’t know that. Your decisions don’t affect their day-to-day, so don’t read too much into whatever they think.
